Chari Grant

Region Governor

Port Coquitlam, BC

Club: Soroptimist International of the TriCities

After more than 25 years as a Soroptimist, Chari Grant considers herself a “lifer.” Chari was first attracted to Soroptimist because of the organization’s focus on improving the lives of women and girls. She has stayed because of the people.

For Chari, being a member of a worldwide organization, whose mission is to educate, empower and enable women is what gives her life a focus beyond her own family and friends. Most of all, Chari knows that no matter where she travels in the world – from California to Kenya – if she finds a Soroptimist, she has found a friend.

Shirley Stewart

Governor-Elect

Surrey, BC

Club: Soroptimist International of the Langleys

Shirley has been a Soroptimist since 2006. Initially she was looking for something to fill a desire to support women in her community. After learning about the amazing programs that SI, SIA and local clubs offer to ensure that women and girls have access to quality education and employment, she was hooked.

She has served in many positions on her club executive and as chair of many committees. Serving at the Region level was not on her radar, but she is so very glad she said yes! Shirley is looking forward to the remainder of her term as Governor-Elect and the adventures that await her as Governor.

Lana Deruyter

Treasurer

Chilliwack, BC

Club: Soroptimist International of Chilliwack

Almost two years ago, Lana Deruyter was searching for an organization that focused on helping women and girls. After seeing some posts from friends on Facebook, she took the leap and attended a membership event, followed by a meeting and the rest is history.

Being a part of a community that strives to educate and empower women has given volunteering a whole new meaning to Lana. She is looking forward to all the being a Soroptimist has to offer and spending time with the friends she has made throughout the region.

Shelley Della Mattia

Secretary

Langley, BC

Club: Soroptimist International of the Langleys

Shelley has been a Soroptimist since 2017 and on the Western Canada Region board since 2022 first as the Board Member at Large and currently as the WCR board Secretary.

Shelley joined the Soroptimists to help empower women and girls by providing educational grants but found much more. Life long friendships have been made and an increased knowledge of the issues faced by all women and girls across the globe. Shelley is honored to be working with such an amazing organization.

Pam MacDonald

Board Member

Victoria, BC

Club: Soroptimist International Canada West Online

Pam serves as the Chair of the SI CWO Friendship Committee. In her professional role as a Rehabilitation Consultant, she supports public school teachers in their efforts to return to work or remain in their roles, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing success in their careers.

With over 15 years of experience as a Certified Travel Consultant, Pam is passionate about travel. She has founded and hosts a Women’s Travel Club Meetup group, creating a community for like-minded individuals to explore the world together. Additionally, Pam shares her travel experiences through her blog and organizes group trips for women.
