As Governor of Western Canada Region one of things I “do” is visit our clubs, meet with the members and talk about Soroptimist. People ask me all time how I like being Governor… and I always say I LOVE IT! Here’s why…
I am going to visit our club in Osoyoos in a week or so. Our Governor Elect Heather, and Board Member Colleen are coming with me. This morning I got an email from the club that outlined the weekend. From the moment we arrive until we leave we are being taken care of. If we need a ride we have it! Need to contact the club members? No problem, I was given a list of numbers. Breakfast (check), lunch (check), hotel (taken care of), appointments booked (check). Every detail has been taken care of. And then… they write this… “I hope we are not entirely monopolizing your time in Osoyoos…” (This made my heart lurch!).
I have mentioned Osoyoos here, but its only one example. Every time I visit a club I am treated like royalty! In Winnipeg a special dinner was organized (twice), in Saskatoon I was picked up at the airport, and had my own personal driver. We visited their club project, toured the city, had dinner with their senior members who don’t get out as much, and I helped give out their awards.
In Red Deer, North& West Vancouver, Surrey-Delta, Langley, Chilliwack, Courtney, Vancouver, Victoria, Victoria-Westshore the red carpet has been rolled out for me!
Today is world kindness day, and so this message is for our 400 members of Western Canada Region Soroptimist. Your kindness to me is appreciated more than you will ever know.
I have the best job on earth. And I am grateful… VERY grateful. Thank you
