Two days ago our family was blessed with the birth of a new baby girl.
As a proud Grandma I immediately sent out my own birth announcements. Congratulatory responses flooded in but one in particular stood out. This one said… “3rd generation Soroptimist.”
The photo posted here is of my daughter Tara being inducted into my club. That was a proud moment for me. The next photo I see is Tara and myself inducting our girl into Soroptimist.
I think that as women, one of the most important elements in accomplishing our goals is having a great role model. A female role model! Our sisters, daughters and granddaughters need someone who’s gone before them to light the way.
Our girls need women they can learn from, observe, study, and emulate. Watching a woman lead by example can have a profound effect on the attitudes and ambitions of young women.
Today, more than ever I am inspired to continue my work as a Soroptimist because we are lighting the way for the next generation. We are ordinary women, with extraordinary qualities, and a shared commitment to improve the lives of women and girls and help them live their dreams.
For my granddaughter and girls all over the world the future looks brighter than ever before. Thank you for all that you do.
Here is a quote that I love.
One hundred years from now,
It won’t matter what car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
How much I had in my bank account,
Nor what my clothes looked like,
But, the world may be a little better
Because I was important in the life of a child.
