Chartered in 1956, SI Saskatoon is located in the hub of the Saskatchewan wheat land and is a diverse group of vibrant business and professional women working together to better the lives of women and girls within their community and around the world. SI Saskatoon is a member of Soroptimist International, which works to transform the lives of women and girls worldwide. We are also represented at the UN and have consultative status there, where we are constantly raising women’s issues.

Local Donations

Since its inception, SI Saskatoon has been involved in many service projects starting with annual flower shows to raise funds, to most recently going back to its origins by partnering with local businesses and selling plants during the COVID pandemic. SI Saskatoon has worked to aid challenged children, inner-city children, street outreach programs, Girl Guides of Canada and the YWCA. It was the founding sponsor of Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre’s annual fashion show. Many other local projects have benefitted from Soroptimist support, including Hope Restored Saskatoon, which works towards helping women who are escaping sexual exploitation and trafficking find hope.

Annual Signature Award

Live Your Dream: Education and Training Award for Women

SI Saskatoon awards annual bursaries under the Live Your Dream program. The awards are presented to qualified women who have been forced to put their dreams on hold as girls, are ready to begin a new life, and are the primary financial support for their families. Preference is given to women who could benefit from the award’s support to overcome personal difficulties and attend a vocational/skills training or undergraduate degree program. Funds from this award may be used to offset any costs associated with furthering their education, including books, childcare and transportation. In 2015 we awarded two bursaries. In 2020 we awarded three bursaries amounting to $10,000.00

Events

Pre-COVID, we held several annual fundraising events, including steak nights and our Hometown Heroes event in the spring. During the pandemic, we have had to change our fundraising methods; we now hold several fundraisers a year, partnering with local businesses to sell poinsettias, succulents and hanging baskets. We are always trying to find creative ways to raise funds to help women invest in their dreams.

Come join us! It’s amazing what a group of women working together can accomplish to improve the lives of women and girls.

We always welcome inquiries and new members.
